JM’s Hookah Fuzzy Naval

Fuzzy Navel, which outside of the hookah world, is a mixed drink made from peach schnapps and orange juice. Having never actually had one of these drinks in real life, it’s difficult to say just how accurate the tobacco is to the real thing. But dissecting the flavor for what it is, there is a very strong, sweet and tangy orange flavor. In fact, the overall taste is very similar to the orange drink Tang. But, inspecting closely, you can also pick up subtle notes of peach. Regardless of whether it tastes like the beverage or not, the flavor is mouthwatering and delicious.

Tonic Strawberry Citrus Mint

Strawberry Citrus Mint is, as the name suggests, a blend of strawberry, citrus flavors and a light mint sensation. The citrus and mint flavors are clear, though the strawberry is a more ambiguous berry flavor. In terms of other tobaccos, Strawberry Citrus Mint is very similar to Romman’s Good Times flavor. It’s unclear who truly has the upper hand, but Tonic’s Strawberry Citrus Mint is slightly cheaper than Romman’s alternative.

Social Smoke Blush

Social Smoke describes Blush as a blend of raspberry, fruits, citrus and a hint of rose. The resulting flavor is more likely to remind you of a really excellent stick of bubble gum. If you examine closely enough, you can definitely pick up on notes of fruit and berry flavor. Picking out any one of them in particular is difficult. Blush is a mild, sweet candy style flavor with an excellent and subtle floral finish.

The Absolute Beginner’s Guide: Part Three, Packing Your Bowl

First we talked about the basics of hookah anatomy. Then, we got into the gritty details of hookah charcoal. This week, we’re going to discuss what it takes to pack your tobacco in your bowl and get a great smoking session out of it. So, lets get started.

If you’re reading this guide, there’s a good chance you’re not using a specialty bowl, such as a Vortex or phunnel bowl. Rather, you’re probably using the bowl that came with your hookah. That’s a standard bowl. It may be an Egyptian bowl, a mod Bowl or a Mya bowl, but regardless, the routine for packing pretty much any of these will be about the same. So, for this guide, we’re going to assume you…

Al Fakher Lemon

Lemon is a mild citrus flavor. The aroma betrays the taste in that it smells more like cleaner than something you’d want to smoke, but tastes very different. Unlike Nakhla’s Lemon flavor, Al Fakher Lemon is much closer to the flavor of a real lemon, but still more of a candy-caricature. You might even compare it to a mild lemon-tea. Lemon is sweet, but not overpowering and it lacks the tartness of a real lemon. The lemon flavor is much more of a lemon sensation that a replication. The natural taste of the tobacco subtly peaks through, though in general, the taste is simple with only a few quiet undertones of tobacco, and the rest lemon. The simplicity and subtlety of the lemon taste makes this a great flavor for mixing.

Romman Good Times

Romman Good Times is a blend of orange, lemon, apple and mint flavors. The most dominant is clearly the orange citrus, though I wouldn’t classify it exactly as a citrus tobacco. When smoking, it’s difficult to pick out the specific flavors, and in that way it’s a bit simple. The mint also is weak compared to what you might expect. Rather than producing a mint sensation, it has a subtle cooling effect.
