Cut and Composition

As very typical to the Starbuzz brand, the cut was a medium to fine cut. Not very many stems, but the stems that were found were small so packing was extremely simple. There seems to be no added dye to the tobacco unlike other flavours.

Price & Quantities Available

  • 100g – $10.95
  • 250g – $20.95
  • 1kg – $69.95

The Set-Up

This flavour has been smoked with a Khalil Mammon hookah with both an Alien Mini Phunnel bowl and a Tangiers Small Phunnel bowl. Both were smoked with one sheet of foil and punched with a toothpick to produce a three ring pattern with no holes in the middle. Three Chronic Hookah coals were used.

The Experience

It took about 2 – 3 minutes to produce smoke. Flavour came with the smoke. It is typical for Starbuzz to take some time to heat up as Starbuzz is typically very wet and juicy. Coals only needed to be rotated once and a windcover was added about 45 minutes to 1 hour into the session. Very large clouds were produced.

The Flavour

The flavour was almost like Starbuzz Margarita with a hint of added lime. It was very sweet but also a little tangy. The lime is probably the most dominant flavour. Over all very good, but still leaves me wondering why it is called “Pirates Cave.”

The Insight

This is a very good flavour for people who have tried and liked Starbuzz Margarita, as have I. Almost anyone can enjoy it because it is sweet, but not too sweet and tangy, but not too tangy. This can definitely be a daily smoker for some and is well worth the $10 for 100g just to try it out.

Who Should Try This Flavour

Pretty much everyone will enjoy this flavour. It is not too strong and not to light. Anyone who does not enjoy citrus flavours will definitely not enjoy this flavour. People who enjoy an overly tangy flavour like a straight lemon or lime flavours may find this flavour a little too sweet for their tastes. But for an average smoker, this is a very good flavour and worth a try.

Absolutely outstanding smoke. The flavor is definately lime…with a hint of sweetness….but not overdone. I highly recommend this for all serious hookah smokers to try at least once. Pirates Cave is definately going to me on my “stocked” list for daily use. Blaze on my friends….blaze on.
