Cut & Composition

Tonic Double Pears is a medium cut, extremely juicy tobacco. There are some moderately sized stems, some of which need to be plucked out to avoid any disruption in packing the bowl.

The Experience

Tonic Exotic Double Pears bears a faint resemblance to the scent of fresh pears, but the more obvious scent is honey. The tobacco began smoking almost immediately, and the richest of flavor and smoke came in the first 10 minutes. The smoke was adequately thick and the flavor distinct throughout the whole session, which lasted about an hour and twenty minutes before dying out.

The Flavor

Double Pears at the least smokeable, and at best pretty tasty. But, the flavor is really indistinguishable as pears. The dominant flavor is clearly a mild honey, with light fruit undertones.

The Insight

It’s possible that Tonic’s Double Pears is to the pear flavor what the popular Double Apple is to apple flavors—nothing like the real thing. Though I will make it abundantly clear right now, Double Pears does not contain any kind of anis flavoring. I mean, rather, that Double Pears may be cartoon caricature of what two pears might taste like together if eaten in some other dimension. I kid, of course. While Double Pears tastes nothing like pears, the light honey flavor is sweet, yet strangely refreshing. Similar to how enjoying Double Apple requires that you forget what apples are supposed to taste like, the key to enjoying Double Pears seems to be to pretend you have no idea what pears taste like.

Who Should Try This Flavor

Fans of sweet spice and honey flavors will probably really enjoy this one. However, the name will throw people off. If you go in expecting something fruity, you will be disappointed. My best recommendation to potential smokers of Double Pears is to abandon your expectations of its flavor.
