Sahara Smoke was kind enough to send us this herbal shisha for free to try it out and share our opinions. We always make every effort to review honestly regardless of what means were used to acquire the product. Evolution Tea Spearmint is available directly from Sahara Smoke for $19.95 in a 250g jar.

Cut & Composition

Evolution Tea Spearmint is made of tea leaves instead of tobacco. The cut is wide and clumpy, unlike Hookah-Hookah tobacco which is shredded into long strings. Spearmint is very wet and slimy, likely as a result of increased molasses, honey or some similar ingredient.

The Set-Up

Evolution Tea Spearmint was reviewed using a 34” Khalil Mamoon hookah and HJ Alien Mini Phunnel bowl.

The Experience

Spearmint smells very much as you’d expect; something like a sweet mint gum. The lack of stems makes it easy to pack into the bowl. The tobacco began smoking with impressive clouds within one or two pulls. The smoke lasted well over an hour, but the flavor began to fade after only about 30 minutes and was completely gone after about an hour. Though the continued smoking experience wasn’t unpleasant as the natural tea flavor is interesting in itself—though if you bought the flavor for the spearmint sensation, this probably isn’t what you want.

The Flavor

Spearmint is fairly straight foreword. It tastes like a mild sweet mint. Something like Eclipse chewing gum. It’s an easier mint flavor to smoke by itself as the mint is more mild and the sweetness adds a necessary element which is often missing from other plain mint flavors.

The Insight

The flavor of Spearmint was very pleasant and when placed on top of the natural tea flavor, it makes for an interesting flavor. However, it’s pricey and the flavor doesn’t last very long—which is largely the reason for the 2.5 star rating I’ve given it. However, if staying away from actual tobacco is very important to you, then this may be your best option.

Who Should Try This Flavor

Mint lovers will probably like this one. However, people used to smoking tobacco will be frustrated when the flavor fades. However, as I said, if you want to stay away from tobacco, this is a good option.
