Cut & Composition

Al Fakher is a standard tobacco. It is marginally wet. Less so that brands like Starbuzz or Social Smoke. There are also significantly more stems to be found in most batches of their tobacco. Al Fakher Orange is a medium cut tobacco which is among the easiest to pack into a variety of different bowls.

The Set-Up

This review was written after countless smoking sessions from many different hookahs and bowl styles. It was most recently smoked from a Khalil Mamoon Pearl with Vortex bowl.

The Experience

Al Fakher tobacco is more resilient  to heat than premium brands. It may take slightly longer to begin smoking, but will also respond better to changes in heat than many other brands. Orange is no exception. Packed exceptionally well with adequate heat, Orange will produce large, dense clouds. Though for the average user, this will be more difficult to achieve. In a typical session, you can expect good, flavorful smoke, but not necessarily anything that will turn heads. As is usual, the flavor will follow the smoke, and will last about an hour to and hour and a half.

The Flavor

The aroma and taste of Al Fakher orange is nearly identical. It is crisp, sweet and citrusy. The taste is unmistakably orange, but it is more of a witticism of the real thing. You’ll find it more closely resembles the taste of orange soda than real oranges. There are no other flavors present, or at least obviously so. In this way it is very simple and makes a great tobacco for mixing your own custom flavors.

The Insight

Al Fakher Orange is a flavor that I have simply over-smoked. I find it difficult to smoke by itself on a regular basis for this reason. The taste is so direct and potent that I typically need to mix it with something else, otherwise I will quickly grow tired of it. For me, this is generally the case with most simple flavors. Though I do still smoke Orange fairly often, but typically as part of mix with apple or mint flavors.

Who Should Try This Flavor

If you’re a die-hard citrus fan, you’ll almost certainly love Al Fakher Orange. But remember, it is very sweet. If you love citrus, but hate sweet, you’ll need to mix this up a bit with something to cut the sweetness. I recommend mint. Because it’s simple and easy to identify the flavor, this is usually a big hit in party situations were there are plenty of people who’ve never tried hookah before.
