Cut & Composition

Evolution Tea Lemonade is made of tea leaves instead of tobacco. The cut is wide and clumpy, unlike Hookah-Hookah tobacco which is shredded into long strings. Lemonade is very wet and slimy, likely as a result of increased molasses, honey or some similar ingredient.

The Set-Up

Evolution Tea Lemonade was reviewed with a Al Fakher Large Solid and a Vortex bowl.

The Experience

The first thing you’ll notice after opening the jar is the distinct smell of Palmolive household cleaner. Don’t be scared away though, the flavor is far less chemical. Lemonade took 8 – 10 pulls before it started producing adequate smoke and the fullest flavor came with it. The smoke was surprisingly dense. Not the densest we’ve seen, but still fairly impressive. The flavor and smoke were potent, but long before the smoke began to thin, the flavor vanished, lasting only about 50 minutes.

The Flavor

The flavor is a sweet, yet tart, candy lemon. But when mixed with the natural flavor of the tea leaves, is almost identical to Lemon Brisk Iced Tea. The flavor is rich and tasty, but not too sweat, and not chemical at all. Additionally, once the lemon flavor has faded, the natural flavor of the tea leaves is actually quite pleasant.

The Insight

I very much enjoyed Evolution Tea Lemonade. It came as an impressive alternative to true tobacco shisha. The flavor wasn’t so intense that it made my head swim and the clouds came without any special attention. In fact, I didn’t even have to ash the coals until they had burned down more than half way. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to elongate the flavor and for me, that’s a big downside.

Who Should Try This Flavor

Flavor wise, Lemonade is tasty and easy to smoke. People who enjoy citrus flavors will probably enjoy this one. However, the tea leaves do offer a distinct change from the undertones tobacco provides. Some people may be turned off by it. Additionally, people who are opposed to tobacco itself, may be willing to give this herbal alternative a try.
